Out of the crisis with the adidas Equipment

The adidas EQT collection was developed for athletes in the early nineties and is one of the most popular sneaker series worldwide - and not just among its own fanbase. The series also has a very special significance for the company, as it helped adidas out of the crisis. The company was struggling badly at the beginning of the nineties and was able to regain its position with this collection.

The EQT also plays a central role in German history, specifically in East Berlin after the fall of the Berlin Wall. For the former GDR citizens, the adidas EQT Cushion symbolized their newfound freedom and stood for a hopeful new beginning.

The equipment collection was the brainchild of two former Nike greats, Rob Strasser and Peter Moore, who set a milestone for adidas. The team around Strasser and Moore is responsible for the legendary Air Jordan, among other things, and is known for its convincing designs and innovative ideas. With the adidas Equipment, the duo wanted to impress athletes above all with innovative technology. However, the nineties vibe and futuristic elements of the silhouette quickly resonated with sneakerheads - even today.

Hyped models of the adidas EQT

The EQT range has stood for a "no bullshit" philosophy since its launch and provides athletes from the fields of running, basketball, soccer and other sports with the best technologies: The EVA midsole or the new Boost technology and the rubber sole ensure optimum grip combined with good cushioning, while the breathable upper provides a comfortable feel. Some models also come with essentials specially adapted to the respective circumstances - such as the EQT golf shoe with a Boost in the heel area and waterproof upper. But which models are the most hyped?

The EQT Support 93

This version of the Support model is a relaunch of the 1993 silhouette and stands for the best performance. The mesh upper with leather and textile lining ensure a comfortable fit - even under heavy loads. The torsion system offers maximum flexibility and allows the wearer to move the heel and ball of the foot independently of each other to provide additional support for the footbed. The EVA technology and robust rubber sole provide grip and cushioning. Stylish elements give a modern look, while the 3 stripes and true-to-original shape provide a retro finish.

The EQT Support 93 is available in fresh colorways and special editions, such as the London, RF White or Tokyo version. In addition to these special versions, the adidas EQT ADV is also one of the most popular Support silhouettes.

The BVG sneaker

The EQT Support 93/ Berlin caused quite a stir and media presence when it was dropped at the beginning of 2018. The reason for the collab was the 90th anniversary of Berlin's public transport company, which chose a very special marketing strategy: Not only was the sneaker designed in the colors of the BVG's seat covers, it also included an embroidered ticket in the tongue. This allowed the wearer to travel by bus and train free of charge for the entire year.

This collab caused such a stir that sneakerheads camped outside the store for days in the freezing cold to get their hands on one of the 500 coveted pairs. In terms of price, it was definitely worth it, as the kicks cost just a fraction of an annual ticket for the BVG.

The success of the EQT range

The EQT range from adidas combines comfort, design and innovation and has produced many key design and performance elements of the three stripes. One example of this is the well-known Torsion System, which was recently installed in the Speedfactory AM4. Far from being outdated, the technology is so timeless and futuristic that it remains relevant to this day. So anyone who likes to indulge in old times without sacrificing modern looks should take a closer look at the EQT series!
