Supreme x Larry Clark's 'KIDS' 20th Anniversary Capsule Collection
I warn you in advance about my obscene choice of words in this text, but it couldn't have been written any other way. Supreme has teamed up with director/photographer Larry Clark for the 20th anniversary of the movie Kids (1995) and has the following capsule collection in the starting blocks for you. The collection consists of decks, hoodies and shirts with pictures from the movie Kids. The items will be available from May 21 in Supreme stores in London, New York City and LA, as well as online. The Japan release is on May 23rd and the movie is definitely thought-provoking and shows the naked truth. Larry Clark, the director of the film, deliberately wanted to visualize the film as if it were a documentary rather than a commercial film. Similar to "Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo", hardly anything is censored, and the man actually managed it. Having had a lot to do with skaters before, he knew what to show and what not to show. Skaters just have this IDGAF attitude and that's exactly what becomes clear several times in the movie. Not that I would criticize it, but let's be honest, that's how it is in reality! One of the most blatant scenes in the movie is probably the one where you see 4 very young boys philosophizing on a sofa while smoking pot. All very lightly dressed. No shirt on - just a pair of pants. It's just about what these boys are talking about and the fact that they're already smoking a blunt at that age. The sad, but at the same time artistically great thing about the story: the movie scene isn't even scripted. Larry only gave a few topics for the boys to talk about. Everything else was magic and happened on impulse. Isn't that how the best stuff happens? I think so! You hear words like pussy, fucking and sex almost every other minute. That's what this is all about. Whoever gets the most virgins or girls can tell the coolest stories at the end of the day. The ending is pretty tough. You see how a teenager who is obsessed with sex 24/7 ends up on the sofa, stoned and drugged up after a wild house party. He immediately notices a girl (Chloë Sevigny) who is clearly out of it and lying next to him. Since he knows her, he calls her name and sees if she reacts. She doesn't react because she took a pill that night and found out early in the morning that she is HIV positive. What happens? He starts groping her, has sex with her. She, in turn, is on her trip and totally fucked up, so she can't get a word out. Moral of the story: She's not the only one fucked, he's been fucked hard by life too. Sorry dude, but if you don't use contraception, sooner or later you'll get it back hard! The movie ends with this guy coming to at some point and saying: "Jesus Christ. What just happened?" .... The only funny thing is that he has no idea that he is now infected. Getting out was the priority last night. The movie ends there and the open ending leaves the viewer with a bitter aftertaste, but before this sentence you can hear the main actor and "fucker of the evening" say: "When you're young not much matters. When you find something you care about, then that's all you got. When you go to sleep at night, you dream of pussy. When you wake up, it's the same thing. It's there in your face. You can't escape it. Sometimes when you're young, the only place to go is inside. Fucking is what I love. Take that away from me and I really got nothing."
