A true Y2K classic is making a comeback: The G-Unit x Reebok G6 is returning for the first time since its debut in 2003. Back then, Reebok teamed up with 50 Cent and G-Unit to release one of the most iconic sneakers of the early 2000s. For this comeback, Reebok is sticking to the original white-blue-red colorway and aiming for a reissue that’s as true to the original as possible. You’ll find all the key details in this post.

THE G-UNIT X REEBOK G6

The G6 was released in 2003 at the height of the G-Unit era and was closely tied to 50 Cent’s rise to fame. The sneaker hit the market at the same time as his debut album “Get Rich or Die Tryin’” and became an integral part of the sneaker and hip-hop culture of the time. The G6 was part of the same lineup as Jay-Z’s Reebok models at the time and evolved into a successful signature sneaker.

For this re-release, Reebok is staying particularly true to the original. The upper is made of white leather and is complemented by a gray suede toe box. Four rows of perforated stripes run across the midfoot, while a red-white-blue element at the front provides the characteristic color accent.

The retro version also stays true to the 2003 model in its details. The G-Unit branding is embroidered in blue on the outside of the heel. The tricolor stripe motif also appears on the so-called “mustache” section and on the metallic “G-6” lace dubrae. Reebok logos on the tongue and heel, as well as the “RBK” branding on the outside of the white midsole, complete the look.

Particularly eye-catching is the transparent blue outsole, which features additional G-Unit branding. As a result, this reissue stays true to the signature details of the original G6 and appeals not only to fans of 50 Cent but also to enthusiasts of authentic Y2K releases.
