Facts about the Air Max 1

Since we have a wonderful example of sneaker history here, here are a few basic facts about the Air Max 1. The market launch of the retro runner was a long time ago. The AM 1 first went on sale in 1987, which is why some enthusiasts refer to the shoe as the Nike Air Max 87. The designer behind the famous silhouette is Tinker Hatfield, who as a trained architect realized his idea to reveal the Air system and started new impulses for the Legacy. He took his inspiration from the famous Centre Pompidou, a Parisian building with a visible staircase.

The first two colorways are the University Red and the Varsity Blue. These are the two OG colorways that fortunately make a retail comeback from time to time. Do you remember the AM1 Anniversary? These are the two colorways mentioned above, which were brought back for their 30th anniversary and therefore have a small update in their name.

The AM series is an integral part of Nike's product range and is constantly evolving. So while we're talking about the very first version of the Air Max here, it wasn't the only edition for a long time. From the Air Max 90 or the Air Max Plus Tn to the current Nike Air Max 720, all of these styles can be traced back to the Air Max.

What Air Max 1 collabs are out there

If you have a particular love for synergy between brands and would like to buy a limited edition AM1, this section is for you. There are a lot of collabs with stores, brands and artists. Nike has worked with Patta several times on an AM1 colorway and all of the released versions have quickly become grail for many people. One of them is currently particularly high-priced. If you want to buy an AM 1 Patta Purple Denim, you need to have 7,000 euros to spare. Other rare pairs include the Kid Robot, the Parra and the Atmos Viotech.
