Air Max 1 Facts

Since we have here a wonderful example of sneaker history, here come first of all a pair of basic facts about the Air Max 1. The market launch of the retro runner, lies far back. For the first time, the AM 1 was available for purchase in 1987, which is why the shoe is also called Nike Air Max 87 by some aficionados. The designer behind the famous silhouette is Tinker Hatfield, who as a trained architect implemented seie idea to reveal the Air System and started new impulses for the Legacy. He took inspiration from the famous Centre Pompidou, a Parisian building with a visible staircase.

The first two colorways are the University Red and the Varsity Blue. These are the two OG colorways that thankfully make retail comebacks from time to time. Can you remember the AM1 Anniversary? These are the two aforementioned colorways that were brought back for their 30th Anniversary and therefore carry a little update in their name.

The AM series is an integral part of Nike‘s product range and is constantly evolving. So while we’re talking about the very first version of the Air Max, that didn’t remain the only edition for a long time. The Air Max 90, or for instance the Air Max Plus Tn all the way to the current Nike Air Max 720, all of these styles can be traced back to the one Air Max

What are the collabos with the Air Max 1?

If you have a special love for synergies between brands and would like to buy a limited AM1, this section is especially for you. There are a lot of collabos, with stores, brands and artists. With Patta, Nike already collaborated several times on an AM1 colorway and all released versions quickly became a grail for many people. One of them is currently particularly high-priced. If you want to buy an AM 1 Patta Purple Denim, you’ll have to fork over 7,000 euros. Other rare pairs include the Kid Robot, the Parra or the Atmos Viotech.
