Nike Air Icarus 2016 - my opinion

The original model of the Nike Air Icarus was first released in 1991. Now, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Icarus, Nike is back with two models in the original colorways of the former classic, and the Nike Air Icarus has been available for sale in Japan since the beginning of the year. We in Europe will only be "spoiled" with the release of the two colorways in February. To be honest, I'm not quite sure whether the use of the word "spoiled" in connection with the retro of the Icarus is appropriate. In my opinion, the first pictures don't look very promising. The shape has little to do with the original from 1991. Only the OG colorways are a good match, and I personally think it's a real shame that Nike doesn't manage to produce "proper reissues" of the models from back then. Sometimes I have the feeling that Nike doesn't even want a faithful reproduction of the original. I can't imagine that a company like Nike can't do something like that. Nike puts out so many new, decent releases that a faithful retro, which usually doesn't contain much know-how or technology, shouldn't really be a problem. For me, it's absolutely incomprehensible or even remotely understandable how something like this can happen. Maybe it's even intentional - when the first information about a new release of the Nike Air Icarus came out, the masses of sneakerheads were really happy. Even I had a really big grin on my face. The item is a classic and is now also quite expensive as an OG, so a retro comes just in time. In the meantime, the tide has turned somewhat, as many have realized that the Nike Air Icarus will not be released as initially thought. Too bad, Nike...but the Icarus fits seamlessly into the series of previous retros, and for the future I would like Nike to really stick to the form of past years. If this is not the case, the shoe is not a retro for me either. As soon as something changes, even the smallest detail, it would at least be a 2.0 or something similar. A retro has to be 100% the same as the OG. The exact release date for the Nike Air Icarus is planned for February 15, 2015.
