KangaROOS x asphaltgold OMNIRUN Katz - Review
"The unexpected often happens" is a saying that I rarely use. However, the phrase fits the new OMNICOIL Katz from asphaltgold and KangaROOS pretty well, because I really didn't expect to be one of the lucky ones who got to test the shoe before the official release this weekend. With the Katz & Mouse Pack, KangaROOS and asphaltgold are breaking completely new ground. We have already been convinced several times in the past that the projects between KangaROOS and well-known German stores are well received in the scene. However, the collaboration between KangaROOS and asphaltgold is even more special than what we are used to from the predecessors. Wondering why that is? I'll be happy to explain: 1. the previous collaborations were always based on just one model. 2. they have always been based on a familiar silhouette from the KangaROOS range. asphaltgold's crew decided in advance to launch two models directly for the collaboration with KangaROOS. Dani and his team combined the sole of the Runaway with the upper of the Omnicoil with the aim of creating a completely new silhouette. The inspiration for the KangaROOS x asphaltgold OMNIRUN Katz comes from the logo of the store, which has been in existence since 2008. While the green accents represent the eyes of the rare Bombay cat, the mix of black suede and perforated nubuck is meant to represent the breed's shiny fur, while the lining and sole are made entirely of calfskin and are super comfortable to wear. I was skeptical at first because, to be honest, I'm not a big fan of completely leather inner shoes. In the past, I've often had problems with this type of sneaker, simply because I lacked a bit of support. Fortunately, the heel of the OMNICOIL is made of a very rough suede. Nothing moves, slips or floats! Apart from that, the KangaROOS x asphaltgold OMNIRUN Katz is of course packed with lots of good details and fun gimmicks. The right shoe bears the serial number ( 39 / 100 in my case ) of the limited edition of 100 pairs. The heels were each provided with an asphalt gold and an OMNICOIL patch. The asphaltgold logo can also be found on the perforated tongue. Of course, the typical KangaROOS pocket under the tongue, which I loved as a toddler, is also a must. :DBy the way, in addition to the shoes, there is also a dustbag and a can of cat food (??) included. I haven't opened the tin yet, but it's hard to imagine that there really is food inside ;) I think I have seen an open tin somewhere on the net. So if you really want to know what's inside, you should go looking or wait until I open mine. :)To summarize, I can and must admit that I really like the KangaROOS x asphaltgold OMNIRUN Katz. The sole gives the sneaker a good shape. The material is really comfortable to wear and, as most of you know, I just love the lovely details that many stores incorporate into their collabs. I can understand that some people grumble about the price of this wonderfully simple sneaker, because after all, €250 is no small price to pay and for many people it's well above their budget, but on the other hand you shouldn't forget what you get for it. A sneaker that is limited to 100 pairs and was mostly still produced by hand and in our beautiful country. If all these features aren't worth €250, you haven't understood the principle of high-quality, limited-edition sneakers anyway. :)I wish the participants a good time at tomorrow's release and everyone else a lot of fun with the remaining pictures! :)By the way, the second silhouette of the collabo will be released next month. I will of course keep you up to date as soon as I have more information about it.
