ASICS x Mita Sneaker Gel Lyte III Torico - Release notes

The Gel Lyte III is certainly one of the most popular models in the lifestyle sector. Countless collabs, inspired by the wildest stories and ideas - with just about every sneaker store I can think of - have caused quite a stir in the past. And now comes the next collabo: ASICS x Mita sneakers!

That's why the Gel Lyte III is being honored with a 12-part series of collaborations to mark its 25th anniversary.

January starts with the well-known Japanese sneaker store MITA, with whom the first collaboration based on the Gel Lyte III took place back in 2008.

The Asics x MITA GL III "Torico", the current release I'm writing about now, combines special features from previous collabos in an anniversary model. The white-blue-red colorway is a nod to the founding company Onitsuka Tiger, as this colorway in particular is one of the original colorways of the Japanese sporting goods manufacturer.

A special gimmick is the loop on the heel, which is intended to create a reference to Japanese culture. As it is common practice in Japan to take off your shoes before entering the house, an "easy to wear" loop was added without further ado. I think it's quite funny...
The "Torico" is rounded off with a printed insole, which is intended to create a link to the neighboring zoo of the MITA store.

The release of the ASICS X MITA SNEAKER GEL-LYTE III "TORICO" (RRP: €150) will take place tomorrow, 24 January 2015. In Germany, the model is available at the following retailers:
