adidas Ultra Boost - one of the greatest running shoes of all time

Today, the new adidas Ultra BOOST was presented in New York together with the 2014 New York Marathon winner Wilson Kipsang, sprinter Yohan Blake and footballer David Villa.

During the development of the new Ultra BOOST, adidas used the ARAMIS 3D shape and surface measurement. The aim was to precisely determine surface expansions for the upper material and the outsole. The same technology is used by renowned institutions such as NASA, Boeing and Audi to take measurements in crash tests, vibration analyses and durability studies.

Eric Liedtke, one of the adidas Executive Board members, says: "We wanted to respond to the athletes' desire for more energy. Our goal was to develop the greatest running shoe ever. With the new Ultra BOOST, we have succeeded."

The Ultra BOOST is the first model in the BOOST range to rely 100 percent on the BOOST cushioning material. As with the previous running shoes with BOOST soles, no other material was used in the sole. It ensures direct contact and provides a special wearing sensation. In previous models from the BOOST family, a small percentage of EVA was still used.

Thousands of unique capsules in the midsole deliver the highest energy return in the running industry, which is significantly lost with conventional EVA midsoles. This means that performance remains constant even after countless training kilometers and running seasons under all conditions. I've been running with my new adidas Glide BOOST for a few weeks now and so far I'm really satisfied. With the new adidas Ultra BOOST, adidas seems to have gone one better!

Research by the adidas Innovation Team has shown that a runner's foot can expand by up to 10 mm or more during training. This can lead to discomfort and friction. Unlike other technologies that prevent the foot from expanding, the Ultra BOOST uses adidas Primeknit technology. An elastic material that we already know from other adidas models and that adapts to the movements of the foot.

"We have set a new benchmark with the Ultra BOOST. With the elegant silhouette, we wanted to emphasize that the Ultra BOOST is not only powerful, but also looks very good," said Ben Herath, Vice President Design adidas Running.

The outsole made of stretch web perfectly absorbs the energy through the BOOST midsole and the footprint and ensures a dynamic forward movement. In addition, the innovative heel construction of the Ultra BOOST supports the foot and enables comfortable, natural movement of the Achilles tendon. Real runners know that the Achilles tendon is one of the weak points of the human body during long-distance runs.
The new, very lightweight insole adapts perfectly to the shape of the runner's foot.

The adidas Ultra BOOST also contains a new TORSION system integrated into the sole, which is designed to provide good stability and more freedom of movement in the heel and forefoot area.

I'm one of the lucky few who got to wear the adidas Ultra BOOST during my visit to HZO in December. Even though I didn't have the shoe on my foot for a particularly long time, I was still very impressed. For me personally, the adidas Ultra BOOST is one of the innovations from adidas: BOOST, Primeknit and a new Torsion System! What more could the heart want?
