The concept is also reflected in the upper: a three-layer, structured nanoprint material creates a futuristic surface that is both lightweight and hard-wearing. However, the real innovation lies in the new Air unit. The system works with so-called "point-loaded" air zones. Instead of a uniform air chamber, Nike distributes around two dozen targeted pressure points across the sole, which only provide support where it is really needed. This should bring the running sensation as close as possible to the feeling of "walking on air", while at the same time reducing unnecessary weight. The Air unit itself has a flexible design and is deliberately positioned relatively close to the ground in order to combine stability and comfort.
