The US cult label Vans produces what are probably the most popular skate shoes in the world. Since 1966, Vans has been producing classic models such as the Old Skool and the Sk8-Hi. One of their most famous shoes - the Vans Classic Slip-On - has been given a cover-up by MoMA. Faith Ringgold is an African-American artist from New York, whose paintings address topics such as civil rights movements: Civil rights movements.

The MoMA version of the Classic Slip-On features a mosaic-like multicolor design on the upper. Lettering can also be seen on the white mid-sole.
