Specially designed for Chinese New Year 2024, this edition presents a rich variety of materials that perfectly match its intricate panel design. True to the set's motif, the insole features jade-green padding, a tribute to the jade stone prized in Eastern culture, especially in China. Confucius, a respected philosopher, depicted jade as a symbol of qualities such as goodness, justice, authenticity and as a sign of the divine and nature.

What do the two colorways look like?

The Shell Pink colorway, with the item number M1906NLN, is predominantly pink. The mesh construction is a lighter shade of pink, while the overlays are slightly darker. Silver accents can also be found on the upper, on the tongue, on the N logo and on the overlays. The midsole then uses a vintage beige for a nice contrast, while the outsole is pink again.

The second colorway, the Sea Salt NB 1906, with the item number M1906NLY, features a mix of white and beige. The base is white, with a few overlays and the laces in the same color. The inner lining is a darker beige that matches the rest of the beige overlays perfectly. The midsole adopts exactly the same beige and combines this with a darker beige on the tread. The green cushioning elements in the sole are a nifty detail.

The Lunar New Year doesn't actually start until February, but the decision was made to release the New Balance 1906 Lunar New Year on January 1, 2024.
