If you're not familiar with the Big Bubble theme, Tinker Hatfield designed the Air Max 1 Big Bubble in 1986, and the sneaker was initially produced in this size. Until 1987, when the Nike Air Max 1OG, as we know it today, was launched with a smaller Air Bubble unit. The introduction of the Air Bubble, or rather the invention of Nike Air in 1987, was a revolution for the brand. However, the large Air Bubbles caused problems for Nike. Wear tests showed the fragility of the "Big Bubble". This forced Nike to reduce the size of the visible bubble in order to withstand the wear and tear. Since then, the smaller Air Bubble system has been used in mass production. The release of the Big Bubble models is therefore an absolute historical highlight, especially for those of us who remember this era. Now, alongside the red OG Air Max 1 comes the OG Royal Blue with the Big Bubble.

The 86 Royal Blue comes in a color palette of white, royal blue, neutral grey and black, just like its original design. The royal blue suede adorns the mudguard, eye stays, TPU eyelets and Nike branding on the tongue and heel. A touch of gray adorns the overlays, while white mesh adorns the base and matches the laces, tongue and inner lining. The shoe is rounded off by the classic "Big Bubble Air Max" sole in the heel, which rests on a tri-colored rubber outsole for a timeless look.
