Solemart Amsterdam 2018 - Photo Recap

You've probably noticed that I celebrated my birthday in Amsterdam last weekend and then visited the Solemart at the Westergasfabriek, which has often been the venue for various sneaker fairs in the past. I still remember a sneakerness where I was able to get hold of the black Huarache Light from Beams, which was still very popular at the time. That thing was such a plank and unfortunately nobody is interested in it anymore. It's a shame, because I actually still have the shoe in my collection today and still think it's as good as it was back then, so after the Westergasfabriek had already survived a few "sneaker baptisms of fire", it was only logical that the first Solemart in Amsterdam should also find its way into the venerable halls of the Westergasfabriek. And Solemart Amsterdam was, I have to admit, one of the best trade fairs I've visited in recent months. I can't say why, but I already noticed at Sneakerness Rotterdam that the Dutch still live their sneaker culture very differently than we do. For the most part, it's still about the culture and not about expensive outfits or short-term hypes that certain people try to cash in on.

I also have the feeling that we Germans have become somewhat fed up with the many trade fairs that take place here every year. Here in Germany, things are really high in this respect, which is why I believe that only conceptual trade fairs that really offer visitors an experience will work in the long term. I would also find a price cap (retail plus X amount) quite interesting and certainly lucrative for the sellers. In any case, it is certain that something will have to change in terms of processes and concepts in the future. But yes, it's damn late and I'm already sharing my great ideas on social media again. For free! :) I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed Saturday at Solemart in Amsterdam. At a well-planned fair, with lots of other people who all have the same hobby. So kudos to the Solebox team and all the other helpers. You did a great job and put the sometimes unfairly maligned Solemart back on the map. Here are some selected pictures from last Saturday.
