Asics Gel Kayano & Melvin - Release info
When the ASICS X SNEAKERFREAKER GEL-LYTE III 'ALVIN PURPLE' was launched five years ago, the buzz that this shoe caused in the sneaker scene was extraordinary. In the second collaboration, Woody from Sneakerfreaker has now moved up the ASICS family tree and tackled the, in his words, killer GEL-KAYANO TRAINER.Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, we are pleased to introduce MELVIN, Son of ALVIN.With its elastic neoprene monosock and pronounced heel counter construction, the GEL-KAYANO TRAINER is unmistakably an early 90s kick-off product. For connoisseurs of the running scene, it is also the foundation stone for what is probably the most successful running shoe series in the world, the GEL-KAYANO, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.At first glance, MELVIN appears to be the more reserved character compared to its "old man", but on closer inspection you discover many small details that characterize this collaboration. The suede used is velvety soft and dyed in the "blackest" black that mankind has ever seen. The asymmetrical color scheme is most pronounced on the tiger stripes, which feature a 3M glitter design on the inside while showing their sunny side on the outside. Shades in different shades of gray, a speckled midsole and polka dot laces complete the picture. With a splash of purple, MELVIN may refer to its "old man" ALVIN PURPLE, but the junior is ready to make his own name. The release of the ASICS x SNEAKERFREAKER GEL-KAYANO TRAINER 'MELVIN' will take place in Germany on 31.10.2014 at 17.00 in the following stores:MONOX, AachenSOLEBOX, BerlinOVERKILL, BerlinASPHALTGOLD, DarmstadtAFEW, Düsseldorf43EINHALB, FuldaTITELHELDEN, HamburgSAVE OUR SOLE, KarlsruheTGWO, CologneTHE UPPER CLUB, MunichSUPPA, StuttgartThe RRP is 140,-€
