"Air Max Days" at Overkill / 3rd chapter - Air Max 90

Who doesn't know Nike's flagship Air Max 90, the "Infrared"? This shoe was born in 1990 and still enjoys cult status today.Overkill Marc , store owner of the Overkill Shop, gifted collector and shoe lover, tells us his Air Max story today: "The Air Max 90 OG "Radiant Red aka Infrared" is one of my favorites from the Air Max series.My passion for Air Max models began in 2000, at the age of 14, when I bought my first Air Max together with my best friend from the proceeds of my youth initiation: the Air Max 97 in the silver colorway, which at the time was the most expensive model in the Air Max series and seemed almost unattainable at DM 300. But I had made it and was wearing my "Grail" at the time - my first Air Max! Owning rare shoes was very important at the time in order to stand out from the crowd. "Good is what's rare" & "What costs nothing is worth nothing" were once the guiding principles of the Berlin sneaker scene, and now I was infected. While the Air Max 97 was the first trigger for my affinity with the Air Max series, it was more the Air Max 180 & Air Max 90 models that made my heart beat faster. 2002 was the year it finally happened: The first retro model of the Air Max 90 "Infrared" came onto the German market! As a teenager, this shoe was an absolute "must have". The shape & colorway, based on the legendary original, drove me crazy! I was finally able to jump on the bandwagon of the Air Max 90 trend, born in 1990, and I proudly held my first pair of Air Max 90s in my hand in 2002. Even better: I was finally able to walk the streets of Berlin in this cult shoe, and at the time I was part of the soccer and ice hockey scene. The motto there has always been to wear only the best of the best, mainly expensive, rare and hard to get. The big names I looked up to usually wore the Air Max 90 & 180, which were exactly the status symbols that lived up to the motto "...only the best of the best." The 90 Infrared was my party shoe for years to come! Together we went from disco to disco and rocked every party! My faithful party companion is still alive today. After countless all-nighters & endless washes, it has now retired and graces a place on my shoe shelf. In 2005, as part of the "History of Air" Air Max series, the Air Max 90 HOA was released. In my eyes the best Nike re-issue of all time. The quality & shape were simply perfect. My personal highlight of the Air Max 90 Saga! I still wear the HOA on my feet today. This shoe is the benchmark for success! Over the years, the Infrared developed into a cult shoe. A large number of retro models followed. Much to my delight, because this gives the younger generation the opportunity to keep up the eternal trend, just like I did back then.I've always liked classic, but also colorful, flashy and gaudy. The Infrared is the counterpart of all these characteristics. For today, I slipped into my 2005 Air Max 90 HOA and I have to say, the feeling that brings a smile to my face is the same as the very first day."
