THE HISTORY OF THE ADIDAS GAZELLE

Like most adidas classics, the Gazelle has a long history behind it. And you know: We love sneaker history. In 1966 the Gazelle saw the light of day. Why the silhouette is called that is not exactly known today. But she has set a milestone. Because the Gazelle came for the first time with dyed instead of pigmented leather. Back then, exactly two colors came out, red with an athletics sole and blue with a herringbone sole for indoor use. At that time, the red Gazelle was the training shoe for the West German national soccer team. In 1972 the Gazelle evolved into what was then called the "OG", with a slimmer silhouette. A few years later, the Gazelle made it beyond sport to the feet of superstars. The shoe quickly gained cult status.

At the beginning of the 80s came the further development that we know today as the adidas Gazelle Indoor. This also made her popular in handball and volleyball and especially in subcultures. From skaters to punks to hip-hop, the Gazelle Indoor was the shoe. At the beginning of the 90s came the "normal" Gazelle, as we still know it today and can always buy it from adidas. @christopher chose the adidas Gazelle Power Red.
