gel

Have you always wanted to know what exactly gel means or what it actually is? No problem, in our exclusive sneaker dictionary we explain almost all terms of the scene.
And if you can't find a term, please send us a message and we will help you immediately!

Gel technology was developed by Asics in the 80's and was supposed to be the answer to Nike's Air Bubble. The new cushioning was first presented in 1986. The first release was the Freaks Alpha and appeared exclusively in Japan. Since then, Gel has been used in many well-known silhouettes of the Asian brand, such as the Gel-Lyte III or the Gel-Lyte V or the Gel-Mai. Many swear by the comfort of these retro runners and various collabos such as with Patta, Ronnie Fieg or Colette are very popular among the heads.
