The sneaker was originally developed by Toshikazu Kayano in the late 1980s. The OG colourways are inspired by NBA teams. This is also the case with the EX89 Knicks, as the name suggests. By the way, there is also a Celtics and a Lakers colourway. The outsole is designed to reflect the view of a city from the sky. The design is inspired by the designer's first business trip to the USA in 1987.
The off-white upper is made of leather, the blue tongue is made of mesh, the sole comes in a vintage look and with retro hangtags. The colors are only partly reminiscent of the New York Knicks, because the team actually wears blue and orange instead of red.
