Nike spared no expense for the Air Force 1's 40th anniversary, developing not only collaborations but also a number of inline releases. And among the latter - ranging from revivals of bygone classics to unique, reconstructed styles - the Swoosh has released several pairs that are overtly reminiscent of the past four decades. This newly unveiled Air Force 1 Mid is not only one of the latest, but also the first-ever mid-top shoe from the manufacturer.

Design-wise, this pair isn't quite what you'd expect in a tangible homage to one of the most iconic sneakers of all time. From the predominantly white base color to the minimal branding, the shoe remains rather unobtrusive. Even the embossed 40th Anniversary stamp on the heel is unobtrusive and dispenses with color and embossing. The "1" mark on the tongue and the engraved "82" dubrae, on the other hand, are much more spirited and stand out in their light green and gold respectively. Finally, shades of brown round out the overall colorway through the logos and Swooshes next to it.
