BAPE adidas Forum – the 30th anniversary collection

Since April we have known that there will be a collection from adidas and BAPE at the adidas Forum for the 30th anniversary of A BATHING APE. A Bathing Ape turns 30. But that's not the only anniversary to celebrate. It is also an anniversary of the collaboration between the two brands. adidas and Bape have been working together for 20 years. A BATHING Ape (BAPE) is a streetwear brand from Japan, founded in 1993 by Nigo. The brand specializes in streetwear for men, women and children and now has 19 stores in Japan plus a few more around the world, but none in Germany.

Do you know where the name A BATHING APE comes from? Nigo is inspired by the 1968 film Planet of the Apes. The name "BAPE" is a reference to "A Bathing Ape in Lukewarm Water". Japanese people usually bathe in water with a temperature above 40 degrees every day. In Japan, bathing in warm water means smugly overindulging if you bathe long enough for the water to get cold. So the name is an ironic reference to the lazy young Japanese: the brand's target group. In doing so, she not only reached young Japanese: inside, but the whole world of streetwear. But now back to the BAPE adidas forum.

THIS IS WHAT THE SNEAKERS LOOK LIKE

adidas and BAPE have teamed up to give the iconic basketball silhouette a pretty nice update. Both pairs come with the iconic BAPE camouflage pattern on the upper, one in green and one in blue. Branding on the tongue commemorates BAPE's 30th anniversary. The shimmering golden details can also be seen on the logos on the side, the laces and the insoles. The 1984 outsole rounds off the design perfectly in white. Of course there is also a special box with two extra pairs of laces. @christopher wears a blue printed Vetements shirt and black Our Legacy pants with the BAPE adidas Forum Blue Camo. We celebrate the design and look forward to the release. Please do not wear the shoes in the bathtub.
