Michael Jordan's first signature sneaker gets a new colorway, the Air Jordan 1 Washed Heritage. The silhouette was designed in 1985 by none other than Peter Moore and became particularly famous thanks to the Banned Colorway. For all of us who don't know the story behind the black and red sneaker yet, here is a short summary. Unlike today, in the past basketball players were not allowed to wear any shoe of their choice. Strict regulations applied, which were punished with fines. As the name suggests, the banned colorway failed to meet these and cost the swoosh brand a $5,000 penalty for every game. A promotion that couldn't have gone better and led to Nike adopting it without hesitation so that Michael Jordan could continue to wear the sneaker on the pitch.
Matching numbers, we can already look forward to many new colourways of the popular silhouettes of the Air Jordan brand at the beginning of 2023. The Jordan 1 High 85 Black White is also rumored to hit the shelves later this month.
THIS IS WHAT THE NEW AIR JORDAN 1 WASHED HERITAGE LOOKS LIKE
The Air Jordan 1 Washed Heritage impresses not only with its color selection, but above all with the material used. The upper consists largely of suede and replaces the otherwise classic components with rough inserts. The white leather base is therefore provided with stone gray overlays, which give the Jordan its incomparable look. The collar area is also provided with suede inserts, which create the perfect transition to the rest of the design with the help of a light gray colour. A simple sneaker that goes perfectly with every fit and is anything but boring. The shoe is rounded off with a vintage-style midsole, which ends on a black rubber sole. The interior of the shoe is also kept in a rich black to match. The red Nike Air branding stands out on the otherwise muted sneaker. A colorway that has washed!
