The HBCU Nike Dunk Low collection is a sneaker series that embodies four colleges and universities in the United States with the help of its colourways. The abbreviation HBCU stands for Historically Black Colleges and Universities and, as the name suggests, includes higher education institutions in the USA. These were established prior to the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and were intended primarily for the African American community. A century after slavery ended in 1865, most African Americans were still barred from attending college. The HBCUs were intended to provide an opportunity for equal opportunity for the community. The HBCUs are an essential foundation for the establishment and growth of the African American middle class in the United States.

Nike took this historical significance as an opportunity to dedicate the third edition of the YardRunners to the universities concerned. Part of the collection is Tennessee State University, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and Clark Atlanta University. The four different HBCU Nike Dunk Low Colorways will each be released on the corresponding Homecoming Weekends. As always, you can find all updates in our free Dead Stock App.

THIS IS WHAT THE HBCU NIKE DUNK LOW COLORWAYS LOOK LIKE

TSU TIGERS

The Nike Dunk Low TSU Tigers pays homage to the Tennessee State University football team - the Tigers. The base of the sneaker is designed in rich black, decorated with red and blue overlays. Along with the white Swoosh, laces and matching midsole, the Dunk incorporates all the University colors. The highlights are next to the tongue with the Tigers logo, the founding year of the football team on the heel of the Dunks. The sneaker owes its look to Kalynn Terrell, who is a TSU graduate herself. The sneaker will be available from October 7th through Nike SNKRS and other select retailers.

NIKE DUNK LOW NORTH CAROLINA A&T

The Nike Dunk Low North Carolina A&T honors the agricultural and technical university represented by its yellow/blue logo. The Dunk convinces with its simple and clean upper in gray tones, which offers the perfect stage for the bright laces, the tongue and the heel of the sneaker. The yellow tongue features tonal laces that reference the A&T University yearbook by reading "AYANTEE." Appropriately, the founding year of the university (1891) is immortalized on the blue heel. The Nike Dunk Low North Carolina A&T is expected to be available at Nike SNKRS and other retailers on October 7th.

FLORIDA A&M

The Nike Dunk Low Florida A&M embodies the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and is characterized by an orange/white color blocking in the colors of the university. In addition to a green Swoosh and other green accents, the Rattler mascot on the tongue is definitely a highlight of the shoe. The founding year can also be found on the heel of this model. The sneaker was designed by Caitlyn Davis, who herself graduated from Florida A&M. The Dunk will be available on Nike SNKRS from October 18th.

NIKE DUNK LOW CLARK ATLANTA UNIVERSITY

The Nike Dunk Low Clark Atlanta University is the fourth colorway of the HBCU Nike Dunk Low collection and comes with a very special surprise. The Dunk Low is designed in the extraordinary mismatched look. The right sneaker is equipped with a black base made of smooth leather, which represents the colors of the university with light gray overlays and a red Swoosh. While the left dunk has a light gray base with black overlays. This model is also equipped with special laces that bear the motto of the university - FIND A WAY OR MAKE ONE. Emblazoned on the heel is the year that Atlanta University and Clark College merged to form Clark Atlanta University. This colorway will be available on Nike SNKRS from October 11th.
