Nike SB Dunk Why So Sad? - Sneak Peak

*EDIT: June 30, 2022. *: Finally the official pictures of the Nike SB Dunk Why So Sad? been published. These allow us a more detailed look at the design of the sneaker. Apart from a few details, the design of the recently unveiled sneaker hardly differs. On the heel you won't find a skating chicken as you initially thought, but a bird on a bike that's at least as cool. The inside of the tongue and the heel explicitly pick up on the theme and catch your eye with their strong red. They are appropriate with a question mark or the WHY SO SAD? lettering provided. The tongue of the Dunk is decorated with the same red and creates a harmonious transition to the otherwise blue colourway. Make yourself a picture and check out the new pictures.

The new Nike SB Dunk Why So Sad? is a Nike collab with pro skater John Rattray. In 2011, he tragically lost his then 31-year-old sister by taking her own life. Since then, the skater has made it his mission to create awareness for mental illnesses and problems and to provide the appropriate funds with the help of crowdfunding. His first project of 2017 was a skate wheel mission. This campaign was to be followed by many more in the future. And just like the new sneaker with the title Why so Sad?. The name of the shoe not only reflects the name of the campaign, but also hints at one of the main issues. As John Rattray said in an interview, we should stop asking "What's the matter with you?" and instead ask "What happened to you?".

The Nike SB Dunk Why So Sad? is kept in rather cool shades of blue. The light blue panel has dark blue overlays. The Swoosh is also dark blue and only stands out slightly from the overlays with its navy blue color scheme. But watch out, because the Swoosh hides a secret! A warm yellow hides beneath the navy blue fabric. This could be an allusion to the fact that the problems of those affected cannot usually be recognized at first glance and that one should take a closer look. If you don't want to skate the dunk, you can of course create this effect yourself by rubbing it down. From our point of view, the highlight of the Dunk is the embroidery near the heel. Here you can find a skating chicken that you may already know from other merch by the Scottish skater.
