Air Max 90 Griffey – inspired by a baseball

It is not uncommon for Nike to pay homage to great athletes and dedicate a shoe to them. Legendary '90s baseball player Ken Griffey has already inspired two silhouettes. With the release of the Air Max 90 Griffey, the third homage is now hitting the shelves. We took a closer look at the shoe and summarized the most important information.

For those who don't know Ken Griffey: Griffey is one of the most successful baseball players of the 90s. He began his career with the Seattle Mariners in 1989, continued with the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago White Sox, and returned to the Mariners in 2010. He has received numerous awards, was named to the Baseball All-Star Team annually and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2016.

Back to the shoe. The new Air Max 90 Griffey uses the same color scheme as its predecessors: Air Griffey Max 1 and Vapormax Plus. Namely white, grey, navy, red and turquoise. The colors are based on his Seattle Mariners club and Ken Griffey's favorite cap. The pair shines with small details like the stitching that resembles a baseball. Griffey's number 24 is emblazoned on the tongue and insole, but see for yourself!

The AM 90 is due out later this month. You can probably buy the shoe again in the Nike Sneakers App, Overkill, SNS, Solebox, Footdistrict Footshop etc. A final listing will follow!
