Point forward? Power guard? In an era of near-positionless basketball, Zion Williamson continues to blur the lines between basketball's historically established roles with an unprecedented balance of power, finesse, speed and brute force. Reason enough for Nike to equip Zion with the Jordan Zion 1 now.
Although Zion has barely played 100 NBA and NCAA games, there are already many stores around Zion. In the sneaker chapter, we can't help but recall the time in Duke when he literally burst out of a pair of Nike PG 2.5s and left the city of Beaverton holding its breath. Even the Nike share stumbled briefly after the campaign.
After being drafted in the summer of 2019, Zion officially signed with the Jordan Brand. A youth-focused squad reshuffle began there, which also includes Jayson Tatum and Luka Dončić. Today, Jordan Brand officially announces the first signature shoe for this current generation of star athletes. Officially named Jordan Zion 1, this new model features a continuous Air Pad designed to maximize cushioning of the foot. Forefoot Zoom brings even more explosiveness to Zion's feet, designed to come closest to man-made jet propulsion. The band in the forefoot area is supposed to provide sufficient cushioning, which is probably necessary in view of the “accident” mentioned above.
The black and white launch colorway will officially hit stores on April 23, but two other colorways have already been confirmed. The purple “ZNA” speaks to the duality of Zion, representing the intersection of “out of this world” and “down to earth”. The wild “Noah” colorway is a nod to his younger brother. The bright fuchsia “Marion” is reminiscent of his hometown and middle school in South Carolina.
The release of the Jordan Zion 1 is scheduled for April 23rd. As always, you can get more information via our free app!
