What actually is a midsole? In this article we explain and show you what a sneaker midsole is:
The midsole is the part of the shoe sole that lies between the rubber part and the upper shoe construction. The midsole often provides cushioning and comfort and sometimes also houses various functional elements.
Depending on the design, the midsole is either kept subtle or exaggerated, such as with the Nike KD 8. Popular materials for midsoles include EVA, Vibram or Boost. Due to its soft nature, it is connected to a thereby protected from wear and tear. The midsole of the Ultra Boost is probably the best known at adidas, while Nike often uses a midsole with Air technology.
