While extra laces have long been used by sneaker designers for aesthetic purposes, Virgil Abloh's Off-White x Nike Dunk Low series comes to mind as a possible source of inspiration for this Air Force 1. This particular AF1 model features blue and orange laces on the all-white leather upper.
The laces zigzag across the shoe and end at the heel. You can also tighten the laces there. Solid stitching secures the rounded laces as they snake through the silhouette.
